Rodriguez/Maestu are the first pair skating couple to represent Spain in international competition. Rodriguez is also competing in singles at the Novice level. She hails from an athletic family. Her twin sister is also a competitive skater, her great-aunt was a British figure skater and is coaching. Her uncles and grandfather played rugby as does her cousin. Aritz competed in singles and was ranked 4th at the 2011 National Championships.
