| British skater Marika Humphreys and Ukrainian Vitali Baranov teamed up in 1998. He had come to skate in a show |
| in Great Britain in 1997 where he met Humphreys. The couple got married in March 1999. They decided to come |
| back to competitive ice dancing because they missed competing, but they were not able to compete in British |
| Nationals 2000 because of a car accident. Baranov had been skating with Olga Mudrak in junior competitions for |
| the Ukraine, but the couple split after Mudrak married Viacheslav Zagorodniuk (1996 European Champion) in 1994. |
