| The current World Junior Champions teamed up on their own initiative in 1996. The are originally from |
| Ekaterinenburg in the Ural mountains, but trained mostly in Sofia, Bulgaria for a couple of years. In September |
| 2000, they returned to Russia and are now training in a new facility in Odintsovo near Moscow. Romaniuta was |
| born in Hungary, where her father was based with the Soviet army. Barantsev's younger sister Maria (11 years his |
